“The Artifice of the Capital” is a captivating project that intricately examines the dynamic interplay between media, public opinion, and architectural decision-making, with a specific emphasis on the strategic deployment of secrecy as a persuasive tool. The project seeks to unravel concealed narratives within architectural spaces, exploring themes such as Anamophia, Hlonipha, and historical interpretation. Employing a combination of design methodologies and interdisciplinary analysis, the research draws inspiration from retrospective forensic architecture and investigative deduction techniques, providing a deeper understanding of how media secrecy influences public perceptions in
the realm of architectural design.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the core of this ambitious endeavour is a design proposal that takes the form of a spatial addition\u2014an immersive escape room experience. Located within the context of the Voortrekker Monument, this intervention serves as a medium to convey the untold story of the Bantu people and the Voortrekkers, merging entertainment and education. By harnessing historical construction methods, the design aims to engage visitors and raise awareness about contemporary ecological challenges. This project not only contributes to a deeper understanding of media’s influence within society but also emphasises the influential role architecture plays in shaping historical narratives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
