Robert Woodstock is the managing principal at HaroldMorrison+RobertWoodstock Associates Limited, also known as HM+RW Architects, an award-winning design oriented architectural, urban design, planning and interior design firm operating from Jamaica and Barbados.
Robert studied architecture at Cornell University, graduating first in his class with a Professional Architecture Degree, and winning thAmerican Institute of Architects School Medal in addition to the Certificate of Merit from the Henry Adams Fund for Excellence in Design and the Study of Architecture. After a five-year stint at the Ministry of Construction (Works), he joined Harold Morrison Associates in 1985 and has been with the firm ever since. The firm has won numerous awards including The Governor General’s Award for Excellence in Architecture (the highest award for Architecture in Jamaica) for Sunshine Village/Singles Negril and the Ansa McL sponsored Caribbean Building Awards, Award for Excellence in Architecture in the Health/Education/ Sports Category for the UWI Archives Building project.
Robert is a Fellow of the Jamaican Institute of Architects and Chairman of the JIA’s Practice and Disciplinary Committees. He is a Member of the Barbados Institute of Architects, a member of the American Society for the Advancement of Project Management and has been an Adjudicator/Arbitrator for construction contract disputes since 2001 in addition to serving as juror for several international architectural design competitions.
He is a past President of the Jamaican Institute of Architects, past Chairman of the Association of Commonwealth Societies of Architects in the Caribbean, a past Chairman of the Construction Industry Council of Jamaica and immediate past Chairman of the Architects Registration Board of Jamaica. He is also a member of Jamaica’s Town and Country Planning Authority and is the current Chairman of its Forward Planning Committee.
